  • Listen Now: Erin Cosgrove Chooses Positivity in New Energetic Single Time to Live

    countrymusicnewsblog.com Friday, 13 November 2020 20:42:00

Following the success of her last single, The Perfect Place to Start, country’s fresh new face Erin Cosgrove is back with a new, upbeat and optimistic single, Time to Live. Not only does this song put you in a good mood, but it also touches on the power of being kind and letting go of all the hate, judgement and fear many people have these days. This song is currently available on all digital platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and more.  After all the events of 2020, Erin decided to switch gears and try something new. “I was in a serious state of depression and anxiety for 6 months, so I wrote something that would not only put me in a good mood, but let people hear some positive vibes in a world that seems so scary and negative,” says Erin. “I tried to focus on the things we as human beings still have control over, which is our choice to be happy and live every day like it’s our last.” With help from Grammy award-winning producer Mikal Blue (Colbie Caillat, One Republic, Jason Mraz, Danielle Bradbery), Erin was able to reinvent her sound to show her personal growth through the hard times. While portraying dynamic vocal abilities on every release thus far, Erin decided on this new electronic/pop feel and beat. “My last single was released two days before the world shut down due to COVID-19, so this new song was like a redemption from the last one.” Visit Erin Cosgrove at her website and follow along with her on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.  About Erin Cosgrove: Breakthrough country artist Erin Cosgrove has it all. Based in Los Angeles and Nashville, this powerhouse singer, songwriter and actress has made a name for herself with a great social media following. Teaming up with Grammy winning producer Mikal Blue, Erin released her second single The Perfect Place to Start, which became an overnight hit, gaining over 15k Spotify streams in just the first week and premiered on Sirius XM The Highway. She is also an aspiring actress, having appeared in the hit TV show “Parenthood,” along with “Good Girls Revolt,” and USA’s reality show “Summer Camp.” Erin has opened for some of the biggest names in country music including A Thousand Horses, Big & Rich, Danielle Bradbery, Love & Theft and Russell Dickerson. She has performed at numerous festivals including the Oakheart Country Music Festival, Paddy Fest and Round Up Country Music Festival in CA as well as performing at the Daytona 500, the Tampa Bay Rays Baseball Stadium and the House of Blues. • How a Failed Audition May Have Saved Faith Hill’s Life

    countrymusicnewsblog.com Thursday, 12 November 2020 23:06:40

AXS TV’s all-new investigative series Music’s Greatest Mysteries premieres Sunday, November 15 at 9pE/6pP—providing viewers with an in-depth profile that shines a light on the truth behind some of the infamous myths and legends that have shaped the industry throughout the years. In this exclusive first look, a panel of experts discuss how a music audition could have ended Country superstar Faith Hill’s acclaimed career before it ever began. Hill, who was initially selling t-shirts for genre trailblazer Reba McEntire upon arriving in Nashville, saw her chance at stardom with the opportunity to audition for a role as a backup singer in McEntire’s band. She would ultimately lose the job to Paula Kaye Evans, who was on board the tragic flight that claimed the lives of all seven members of McEntire’s backing group. “If Faith Hill gets that job and dies in this plane crash, how much is Country music’s future changed?” asks music producer Patrick Thomas. “I think Country music is completely different if she gets that job.” Indeed, Country could have been robbed of two of its modern legends as McEntire—who hosts the 54TH Annual CMA Awards this Wednesday—was also supposed to be on that flight to Indiana, but an illness caused her to remain behind in San Diego. The episode’s other featured stories include explorations of the relationship between Beach Boys mastermind Dennis Wilson and Manson Family patriarch Charles Manson, as well as a look at hip-hop chart-topper and occult aficionado Post Malone and the haunted object that may have placed a curse on his life. Spanning a wide variety of eras and genres—from Hip Hop and Rockabilly, to Country, Grunge, and everything in-between—Music’s Greatest Mysteries guides viewers on an immersive journey investigating the infamous myths and larger-than-life personalities which have come to define the music industry throughout the decades. Separating fact from fiction, Music’s Greatest Mysteries presents a fresh perspective on stories both well-known and slightly more obscure, unearthing hidden gems and long-forgotten lore with the help of music icons and noted experts. Blending insightful commentary with rare archive footage, the series seeks to answer the “whys” and “hows” of each new topic until the whole truth is revealed. Not only are the themes meshed in history, but so are the interview locations. Legendary music venues such as The Bluebird Café in Nashville and Antone’s in Austin will be woven into the fabric of these stories. Music’s Greatest Mysteries is jointly produced by Texas Crew Productions and Hideout Pictures, with Chip Rives, David Karabinas, Brad Bernstein, Shannon Houchins, and Trevor O’Neil serving as executive producers. The series airs as part of the Network’s popular Sunday Night Rocks block, which also includes The Top Ten Revealed at 8pE, Rock Legends at 8:30pE, and A Year In Music at 9:30pE.

  • EXTRA: Miranda Lambert Miranda Lambert Reveals Plans for CMAs Performance and Talks Entertainer of the Year Nomination

    countrymusicnewsblog.com Wednesday, 11 November 2020 01:14:38

It’s a big week for Miranda Lambert! The country music star turns 37 on Tuesday, and is set to perform at the CMA Awards, where she’s up for seven awards, on Wednesday. “Extra’s” Rachel Lindsay caught up with Miranda, who talked about what it means to be nominated for Entertainer of the Year. “Entertainer is definitely special, it’s one of those that you kind of work for your entire career,” she said. “It’s stiff competition this year, but there are two woman in it which makes me really happy because Carrie [Underwood] and I have come up together the last decade. I’m always such a supporter of hers, I would love to see her take it.” Lambert went on, “I think it’s a well-rounded category this year, and it’s also a year where it’s less about shows… It’s about your whole image and the whole thing that you encompass… what you mean to country music, and I think that’s a cool way to celebrate Entertainer of the Year.” She will be performing live at the show, revealing, “I’m performing a stripped-down version of my single, ‘Settling Down.’ I decided to do acoustic to keep it simple, it’s always fun to just be onstage with a couple of guitars anyway.” Her husband Brendan McLoughlin stars in the “Settling Down” video alongside her, and she shared, “It was really fun! I actually have never had a love interest in any video; I either burned their house down or wrecked the car… We shot this video at my farm with my longtime friend and director, Trey Fanjoy. I got to ride my horses and be with my husband at our actual house where we have been quarantining the whole year, so it was really special. I’m so thankful to have that on tape because it’s my happy place and my husband’s beautiful, so why not use him, right?” Also opening up about taking time to slow down during the pandemic, she said, “I don’t think I enjoyed it enough at the beginning because I was in panic mode worrying about my people and getting used to not moving.” The star added, “I’m starting to really embrace ‘now’ later on in the year. I realized I will be 37 tomorrow, you realize that the road life takes a toll on your body, so it’s been nice to get some R&R and regroup with myself.” CMA Awards 2020 Nominations: The Complete List READ MORE Miranda is working on new music, too! “I didn’t write for the first six months. I started writing a lot lately. I think a lot of that has to do with having time and space for your brain to wrap around what’s your next direction.” Lambert is also the executive producer and stars in the scripted podcast “Make It Up as You Go,” alongside other big names like Dennis Quaid and Billy Bob Thornton. The story follows an up-and-coming singer-songwriter named Charlotte, played by Scarlett Burke. • Moving To A Music Town?

    countrymusicnewsblog.com Tuesday, 10 November 2020 00:23:04

Top Five Places To Live if You Want To Work In Music In this crazy world of self-quarantine and social distancing a lot of us have had the rare opportunity to sit back and really consider whether we are living our dreams or just working to live. If you are one of the many who took this time to really explore your musical talent and refine your instrumental skills, then you may have some big ideas about what you’re going to do when the restrictions life and you become free to move about the country. For many people, the choice will LITERALLY be to move about the country to a location that is more in line with the way they want to live their life, and if you’re reading this here on CMNB, then more than likely that move will take you to one of the music hotspots of the nation. Of course, deciding where you want to live depends on many factors, the most important being affordability. Our friends at Zumper have created a handy calculator to help you figure out how much rent you can afford, based on your projected income. Of course, where you live will also depend on what part of the music biz you want to get involved with, what kind of jobs you will take while working out your dreams, and what kind of lifestyle you want to live outside of work and stage play. We used Zumper to find the average monthly price of a 1bed, 1bath rental with a minimum of 800 sq ft within walking distance to the entertainment districts in the following towns. All other things being equal, here’s what we found: Nashville, TN – If country music is your magic, then this is definitely the place to be, especially if you plan to work behind the scenes in production, publicity, or other aspects of music support.Average rent starts at $1,800 + Los Angeles, CA – Want to be a star on stage and screen? Recording studios and music venues are overflowing with hopeful stars in Hollywood and dreams are made and broken at Sunset & vine every night whenthe lights come up.Average rent starts at $1,800 + New York, NY – Television, live venues, Broadway, busking and more… if you want to be able to book a performance every night, and twice on Saturdays, then head to the Big Apple where the pace is only limited by how fast you can run to keep up.Average rent starts at $2,100 Austin, TX – Grassroots and cowboy boots abound in an artist-built community that’s just now going commercial. Austin is an ecosystem all its’ own when it comes to collaborating with major talent while keeping it humble.Average rent starts at $1,400 Tulsa, OK – Living on Tulsa time is a real thing, and when you want to play the stages, but not run yourself ragged, this is just the place. Historic venues, major legacy musicians and incredible cost of living is Continue reading Moving To A Music Town?

  • Going Tiny: Resources, Needs, and Dreams (part three)

    countrymusicnewsblog.com Tuesday, 3 November 2020 22:20:06

Thank you for joining us again as we go over the logic and planning that has gone into our tiny cabin country music compound build! In our previous posts we’ve covered identifying our resources, and narrowing down our needs in order to make efficient and budget-conscious decisions about the way this project comes together, but before we get further down the construction path, we also need to take a realistic look at the dreams we have for this property’s future. This article may contain affiliate links or paid link placements. All opinions are our own. One of the most important aspects to this project is that we include our dream spaces. Our revenue and content-generating performance areas, makerspaces, and self-sufficient homestead features. These are going to be what really separates our former way of living from this new communal creative hub, so it is crucial that we include these areas in every stage of our planning and development. Performance Spaces: The first priority is that we get our performance spaces worked out. As musical guests cycle through the property we want to have natural and comfortable spaces in which creativity just blossoms out of the very environment they are surround in. For non-musical guests, this is part of the appeal of staying with us… the ability to be part of an intimate performance that may only happen once in a lifetime. For our revenue-generating purposes, this gives us a way to generate content for our sites that is special and unique. Main Stage: The bunkhouses and anchor cabins will be connected together via one massive raised deck that unifies the faces of the buildings. That deck will be covered and pre-wired to allow for a quick-connect PA system, LED stage lights, and stellar concert sound system. Campfire Circle: More than just a place for a bonfire, the campfire circle will include comfortable seating and simple discreet mounts for cell phones mics and cameras to capture acoustic performances like no other. Recording Studio: Much further down the line, an additional full-service recording studio will be added to the property to capture radio-quality moments of inspiration and collaborations between our guests. Maker Spaces:Creativity comes in many forms, and when the musical muse stops singing, then sometimes a little work with our hands can draw her back in. In addition, we can’t play music all the time, so the ability to create and craft is something we look forward to off the clock, and the resulting crafts can help supplement our modest income. Woodshop: The property features a 30’x40′ partially enclosed workshop fully outfitted with woodworking tools and supplies of all kinds to bring out the carpenter in all of us. Kitchen: Whether it’s to increase personal skill, record a country cooking segment, or participate in a local bake sale, the kitchen is so much more than just a place to make daily meals. With the open layout, constant full stock of pantry and freezer goods, and state-of-the-art appliances and equipment (thanks in Continue reading Going Tiny: Resources, Needs, and Dreams (part three)
