    43 year-old Mark Adkins was last seen on Friday and officers are growing increasingly concerned for his safety.

    He is described as around 5 ft 7, of a slim build with a shaved head and brown eyes.

  • A young man has reportedly been stabbed in Thornton Heath.

    He was taken to hospital last night after being attacked at the railway station.

    An air ambulance landed in Iceland car park to help treat him at the scene.

    He was later taken to a major trauma centre by London Ambulance Service.

    His condition is currently unknown.

    She was elected on second preference votes as no candidate received more than 50% of first preference ballots.

    The result which was announced in Addlestone this afternoon after the votes were counted across the county.

    Covid anxiety is when worries about catching the virus, avoidance of certain situations and frequent symptom checks become excessive.

    The study also revealed that younger people experienced more psychological distress, possibly due to social media exposure.

     It’s after the government announced that Turkey – who’s due to host the final later this month – has been put on the red travel list.

    It means players, coaches and fans travelling to Istanbul would have to quarantine for 10 days upon their return to the UK.

    Up to 12,000 fans were expected to travel for the final on 29 May but the Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said yesterday fans should not attend.

  • The Conservatives have held Surrey County Council with 51 out of 81 possible seats.

    Commuter parking had been making made it difficult for residents to find spaces during weekdays.

    Additional pressures were also attributed to the area hosting major events at the new Brentford football Stadium and Kew Gardens.

    71% of residents and businesses agreed to the parking controls along with provisions for a taxi rank and a coach drop-off and pick-up area.

    The Norbiton based union has been responding to a fire at a 19 storey block of flats in east London this morning. 

    The cladding on the building is said to resemble that on Grenfell Tower, which caught fire in 2017 killing  72 people.


     FBU General secretary Matt Wrack says: 

    “It should shame this government that four years on from Grenfell there are people across the country living in buildings wrapped in flammable cladding. 

    Time and time again we’ve warned that another Grenfell could be just around the corner unless they prioritise making people’s homes safe. 

    “The pace of removing flammable cladding has been glacial and it’s putting people’s lives at risk.

    The government must intervene and take quick and decisive action to end our building safety crisis once and for all.”

    Bishnu Gurung takes over the role for the next 12 months from out-going Mayor, Tony Louki.

    Cllr Louki held the role for two years because of the pandemic. 

    An ex-British Gurkha Staff Sergeant, Cllr Gurung was born and raised in Nepal.

    During his time in the Army he served in various parts of the UK, along with Hong Kong, Brunei, and Singapore. 

    He retired from the armed forces in 1995, after completing 19 years’ service. 

    He received the prestigious Long Service and Good Conduct medal upon retirement.
