Kelsea Ballerini’s Acclaimed Studio Album “kelsea” Now Certified Gold!
countrymusicnewsblog.com Saturday, 22 January 2022 00:21:59
Gearing up for a massive new year, two-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated multiplatinum songwriter, producer, and author Kelsea Ballerini parlays the energy and success of a banner 2021 into what promises to be an even brighter 2022. Along the way, she has quietly emerged as one of the most impactful artists in country music and popular culture at large. Indicative of her impact, she notably closed out 2021 as the “#3 most-played female artist on country radio.” She notched her first two CMA Awards, taking home “Musical Event of the Year” and “Video of the Year” for “half of my hometown” with Kenny Chesney. Reaching many milestones, CMT crowned her “Artist of the Year,” and she appeared as a guest judge on The Voice. She graced the cover of Shape who christened her “a phenomenon in her own right.” Returning to the road, she performed in sold-out arenas and amphitheaters coast-to-coast as direct support to Jonas Brothers on The Remember This Tour. Not to mention, she picked up four RIAA certifications, bringing her total to 25 overall. Among those, her sixth #1 “hole in the bottle” with Shania Twain earned a platinum certification, while “half of my hometown,” her acclaimed kelsea album, and 2021 single “I QUIT DRINKING” with LANY all went gold. The latter just eclipsed 100 million streams and reached the Top 20 at Hot AC as well. Plus, her cumulative stream tally just surpassed 3 billion and counting. Additionally, she continues to garner unanimous tastemaker praise. When she teamed up with Chesney for a duet of “half of my hometown” at the 2021 ACM Awards, People raved, “What a lovely performance,” and described it as “soulful.” Examining the “strength of her artistry and songcraft” on kelsea and its companion album ballerini, The New York Times claimed, “Ballerini’s best songs often interrogate a private, particularly feminine space between image and reality.” Rolling Stone hailed kelsea as “cleverly crafted and deftly executed.” Of the latter, The FADER attested, “if you’ve been yearning for something comforting and entirely earnest, this is your ticket.” E! proclaimed, “Kelsea Ballerini’s Most Honest Confessions Prove She’s a Relatable Queen.” She also made her literary debut with an original book of poetry entitled Feel Your Way Through. Available at retailers and online now, the book is published as a Ballantine Hardcover by Ballantine—an imprint of Random House. The collection is available HERE. Feel Your Way Through climbed the bestsellers charts and has reached Top 50 overall on Amazon. Diving into the text, she sat down with Associated Press for an in-depth interview. Joining forces with another legend, she co-stars in the audiobook of Dolly Parton’s novel, Run, Rose, Run, co-written with best-selling author James Patterson. Arriving March 7, 2022, Kelsea takes on the role of protagonist AnnieLee Keyes. Stay tuned for more from Kelsea Ballerini very soon!

Revealing Interview with Maren Morris on Audacy’s “Katie & Company” Podcast
countrymusicnewsblog.com Thursday, 20 January 2022 00:59:04
On the verge of a new album release this spring, Maren Morris sat down with the hosts of Katie & Company and gave possibly one of the most vulnerable interviews we’ve heard from her yet. Key Quotes:— How her family spent the holiday. “It was really nice. It was pretty low-key. We went to Texas for three days with our son to see our family. It was nice to see them. It had been too long.” —”I had to find other avenues to get inspired to make music again. Part of it was having all this one-on-one with my husband for the first time, being stuck in the house together. Really sitting down and listening to tons of new music that I’d never have the bandwidth to listen to before. Removing from your bubble for a second.” — Moment that almost made her leave Nashville. “With ‘My Church’, I knew how much I believed in that song. It was almost so confidently a belief in myself. I knew even if I failed, I’d still be so proud of myself. In the back of my mind I knew there was no second career option, it was always going to be this.” Listen to the rest of the Maren Morris Interview at Katie & Company on Audacy.

The country music community is showing overwhelming support for Nashville Songwriters’ Hall of Famer Hugh Prestwood – who has written for big names like Randy Travis, Trisha Yearwood, and The Judds – after he started a GoFundMe, revealing that he and his wife may soon become homeless. Hugh wrote: “A few decades ago I was a somewhat accomplished Nashville songwriter, and my wife Judy was a somewhat accomplished photojournalist, but much has changed, and recently we have been hit with some very bad luck … Simply put, unless we get some help, we are three months away from having no place to live, i.e. becoming homeless.” Per the fundraiser, Hugh and Judy are packing up their Long Island home and moving to Texas. The GoFundMe received a boost when Randy Travis shared the link on his social media (Facebook post https://bit.ly/33IQg7R). This GoFundMe is verified and donations will go directly to Hugh Prestwood.
