countrymusicnewsblog.com | Thursday, 27 February 2020 20:52:43
February 24, 2020 – Wilkesboro, N.C. – Over the past two decades, hundreds of young musicians have taken part in the Acoustic Kids programming at MerleFest presented by Window World. This year—the showcase’s 20th anniversary—young musicians from the MerleFest audience will once again step on stage and perform in Andy May’s Acoustic Kids Showcases. Some participants are just learning to play their instrument, some play just for the fun of it, and some go on to international renown. Put on by long-time music educator and accomplished multi-instrumentalist, Andy May, Acoustic Kids is open to any musicians ages 16 or younger who register online before March 15. Young musicians can register online now to perform onstage at MerleFest! Their accompanists may be any age, and mixed-age groups are accepted—including family bands. Music teachers often accompany their students, using the program to give their students a real-life performance experience that is difficult to find elsewhere. No matter their skill level, Acoustic Kids celebrates young musicians’ achievements, and each year, a stream of young musicians heads to Merlefest to create their own “Music, Moments, and Memories” in Acoustic Kids Showcases. A festival wristband is required to participate, but there is no additional charge. Parents can find the registration page here. “Andy has a remarkable ability to make kids feel welcomed and valued as a person and [a] musical contributor,” says Sara Watkins, multi-year Acoustic Kids participant with Nickel Creek at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kan. “I’m so glad Acoustic Kids has stayed involved in the community, because not only does it give all these kids good memories, but as the kids grow up they’ll remember that their contribution is important.” “[Acoustic Kids] Showcases have inspired in me the confidence that comes from playing in front of thousands of people and having a successful experience. I can’t overstate how grateful I am,” exclaims Liam Purcell, multi-year MerleFest Acoustic Kids participant and Ambassador, both solo and with Cane Mill Road (2019 IBMA Momentum Award—band). “ [Andy runs] an extremely tight ship without taking any of the fun out of it.” Purcell’s band, Cane Mill Road, join One Fret Over, The Moore Brothers, Presley Barker, The Williams Brothers, and Wyld Fern—all fellow Acoustic Kids participants, past and present—as official performing artists at this year’s MerleFest. The Acoustic Kids Ambassadors, which debuted at MerleFest in 2014, is a spin-off of the regular showcases. It shines a spotlight on young musicians who are planning to make a career of playing. The Ambassadors will play the Cabin Stage on Saturday, giving the audience a chance to get to know these young emerging artists and be reassured that “the music is in good hands! NASHVILLE, TENN. (February 24, 2020) — Rave reviews for Broken Bow Records star Dustin Lynch and his TULLAHOMA LP continue to roll in, as the Country star celebrates his fourth straight Top 5 Billboard Country Album. FOURTH STRAIGHT TOP 5 ALBUM PRAISED BY PEOPLE, ROLLING STONE AND MORE Inspired by his Tennessee hometown and released on the heels of back-to-back GOLD-certified #1s “Ridin’ Roads” and “Good Girl,” the project’s success marks a new creative high for the seven-time chart-topper – and also a new level of critical acclaim. Named one of PEOPLE’s Picks, the magazine states “TULLAHOMA – the name of Lynch’s Tennessee hometown – is rarely far from his mind here, even when he’s contemplating its evolution into ‘high-rise heaven’ (‘Dirt Road’). The album’s pop-fluent production befits a contemporary country star.” DEBUTING FIERY NEW SINGLE “MOMMA’S HOUSE” ON ABC’S JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE Tonight! (2/25) Meanwhile, iconic taste maker Rolling Stone also highlights the “young hitmaker” in their February print edition, proclaiming Lynch “has stepped up his ambition for a concept LP about his Southern Tennessee hometown. Alongside typical dirt-road homages and back-yard come-ons (see ‘Red Dirt, Blue Eyes’) are unexpected moments of tension from this down-the-center traditionalist.” Still more praise for TULLAHOMA has arrived, including these select highlights: “Lynch finds himself reconnecting with his roots and digging deeper into the artist he’s become” – Entertainment Tonight “All of the songs on the album radiate Lynch’s sunny, sexy vibe, giving the entire project a feel-good sound” – PEOPLE “… What looking back home with TULLAHOMA signaled for Lynch: a commitment to remember why he got in this, and his confidence about where he’ll be going next” – Rolling Stone Country “Sharing the stories of small-town America” – CMT “Some of Lynch’s most personal work” – The Tennessean “As the man who broke through with ‘Cowboys and Angels,’ Lynch sounds on TULLAHOMA like he’s even more focused on leaving a legacy that his legendary predecessors would want to know” – Sounds Like Nashville Keeping the heat on, Lynch’s scorched-earth standout, “Momma’s House,” is now spinning on Country radio airwaves nationwide and he’ll bring a fiery performance of the new single to ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! Outdoor Stage on February 25. Having already kicked off his headlining STAY COUNTRY TOUR 2020, the hitmaker’s busy concert schedule will then find him supporting Old Dominion’s WE ARE OLD DOMINION TOUR starting May 14 in Greensboro, NC, while also appearing at high-profile summer festivals like Stagecoach, Country Thunder, the iHeartCountry Festival and more.

Dale Ann Bradley and Tina Adair’s Brand New Duet Album ‘Oh Darlin’ Available Now
countrymusicnewsblog.com | Monday, 24 February 2020 20:34:14
Nashville, Tenn. – Today marks the release of Dale Ann Bradley and Tina Adair’s anticipated duet album, Oh Darlin’. Released via Pinecastle Records, the stripped-down collection includes 10 new recordings, which are all centered around both powerhouse singer’s vocals. They’re tackling some of the biggest hits of all-time across multiple genres on the new project (see track listing below). The record is available for download and purchase HERE. “I’m so excited for everyone to hear this project and the songs that we’ve chosen to record,” says Tina Adair. “I love the time period in which most of these songs originated as well as being a huge fan of each artist that originally recorded these songs. Singing and collaborating musically with Dale Ann has been one of the easiest and most rewarding things I’ve ever done in my career.” The lead single and inspiration for the project’s title came in the form of “Oh Darlin.” The track may sound familiar to some music enthusiasts, as it was originally released in 1986 by The O’Kanes, where it went on to hit the Top Ten on the Country charts. Bradley & Adair’s new invigorated version has already begun turning heads in the Bluegrass, Roots and Americana world, having recently debuted at No. 7 on the Bluegrass Today Weekly Airplay Chart. “This collection of songs meant so much to me growing up, and even more so today. There’s so much truth in the lyrics,” says Dale Ann Bradley. “All subject matters are relevant now as they were then. Recording them with Tina Adair was as natural as a drink of water and a blessing. I so hope the older and younger generations listening to acoustic music today, will feel their ancestry and make theirs and their children’s future a bright one.” Many of the songs on the Oh Darlin’ project pay tribute to some of the biggest music legends of all-time. For example, one standout track is a new version of Hank Williams Sr.’s “The Log Train,” which was re-cut with a unique Roots angle. Another familiar tune fans might recognize is “Apartment #9, a track where Bradley & Adair channel their inner Tammy Wynette. The song selection for Oh Darlin’ includes a combination of different material including more fast-paced songs combined with moving ballads, all with Dale Ann Bradley and Tina Adair’s award-winning vocals. If listeners think the combination of Bradley & Adair’s voices together sounds familiar, that’s because they’ve probably heard them perform together as a part of the Grammy-nominated band Sister Sadie. As two of the four founding members, the chart-toppers have hit new heights over the last year. In addition to receiving a Grammy nod, they also made numerous appearances at the Grand Ole Opry, while also taking home the IBMA award for “Vocal Group of the Year” in 2019. Bradley was also recognized earlier this month as the SPBGMA “Female Vocalist of the Year,” which she took home for a second consecutive year. Oh Darlin’ Track Listing: 1. In A New Video Series Spotlighting A Cross-Generational Story with One of America’s Most Iconic Brands (February 19, 2020 – Nashville, TN) Country music star, Stephanie Quayle, has teamed up with iconic American company, Harley-Davidson®, for a three-part digital video series titled From Horses to Horsepower, debuting on May 3rd 2020,just in time for Mother’s Day. Produced by Rebel Engine Entertainment, the series will follow Stephanie’s journey of learning to ride from a lifelong mentor, her mom. It was through her mother’s mentorship that Stephanie first fell in love with riding horses while growing up in Montana, and now her mother, a veteran Harley-Davidson Fat Boy® rider, will teach her how to master a motorcycle. With their shared love of freedom and the open road, riding strengthens their relationship outside of the traditional mother-daughter archetypes as Stephanie embraces and emulates her mother’s fearlessness and confidence in this new and exciting pursuit. “It all started with a song. I wrote ‘Evel Knievel’ as an anthem of fearlessness to follow your dreams and take that leap of faith. I thought of my mom with all of the riding imagery, and couldn’t help but think of my own desire of wanting to get on a motorcycle. I felt this calling to conquer it and experience the joy and freedom that I know my mom feels every time she gets on her bike,” says Quayle. She continues, “To learn from my mom, my greatest mentor, and share this new bond with her, means the world to me. There’s nothing like it. I’m so grateful to Harley-Davidson for capturing our journey, and hope the series inspires other women to try something new.” Shot at a Harley-Davidson dealership in High Point, NC, and on Stephanie’s beautiful Summerfield Farms, located just outside of Greensboro, the series will show the shared cross-generational love and education for riding between this mother-daughter duo. Their authentic bond that developed from this hobby turned lifestyle gave these two women a deeper connection and provided a unique experience for them to share. Follow along as the project chronicles Stephanie’s own personal experience learning to ride and also spotlighting the stories of other female riders along the way. On February 17th, 2020, Stephanie’s single “Whatcha Drinkin ‘Bout” debuted at #59 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.
