  • Bonnie Dymond Releases Pop-Country Inspired EP ‘#NoFilter’ Sunday, 10 May 2020 20:15:00

Following the release of her single “Where Do You Go? (The Fighter)”, receiving “New Music Friday” feature and amassing nearly 100,000 streams as well as key editorial placements as a featured artist on “TIDAL Rising”, Bonnie Dymond is finally debuting her first collection of songs in her upcoming EP, “#nofilter.“ Dymond, who solely wrote all of the songs, also produced and engineered the EP, constructing a sonic evolution as she takes the listener on an emotional journey through the phases of love and relationships. Centered in an Acoustic-Pop/Adult Contemporary genre, Bonnie begins the EP with an urban-acoustic, upbeat bop themed around pining over a love interest before moving into the phases of desire, love loss and nostalgic reminiscing. Dymond closes the collection with a piano ballad, titled “Where Do You Go?” about the strenuous difficulties of the expectations that society enforces while secretly betting on and rooting for one’s failure. Recorded at 6am, after a 13-hour studio day, Bonnie’s vocals are raw and just right to convey the desperation that the lyrics and melody call for— she’s proud to say it was a “one shot” take! Throughout her journey in music, she’s found a defining inspiration from artists such as Ed Sheeran, James Arthur, Sia and Adele and it conveys in each song instrumentally, vocally and in production and arrangement style. Bonnie always says first and foremost she’s a songwriter and storyteller and has proven so with her latest songwriting success, co-writing with former Van Halen member and rock legend Sammy Hagar’s son, Andrew Hagar on his latest single “Judgement Day.” Bonnie will be involved with every song on his upcoming EP and future singles. Similarly, Bonnie has had a few great syncs in US ad campaigns that will be airing throughout the coming year. Bonnie is perhaps your next exciting music discovery of 2020.

  • Caroline Marquard Announces Debut EP ‘The Prologue’ June 26th Sunday, 10 May 2020 19:30:00

NASHVILLE, TN (May 8, 2020) – Swiss-American singer-songwriter Caroline Marquard is releasing her debut EP June 26th, entitled The Prologue. The collection, which showcases her free and easy vocals, also features her newest single “Never Should’ve Left,” which came out today. Revealed exclusively with Billboard this week, the “touching” song was co-written by Marquard, Liz Rose (Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood) and Jordan Lehning (Kacey Musgraves, Shania Twain). Marquard shared with Billboard, “This was my first write with Liz Rose and I was freaking out to say the least. I am a big Taylor Swift fan like every other girl my age, so this was a big moment. I brought in this idea and melody, Liz loved it so we ran with it. My producer, Jordan Lehning, was coming up with a cool chord progression on the guitar and Liz was the lyrical genius we all know and love her to be. I believe we wrote it in about an hour and a half. This song is about regretting leaving someone. You know you weren’t your best self in the relationship and realize after the fact you’re pushing them away to find someone else to love, when all you want is for them to love you.” The fourth track to be revealed from the EP, it follows up “Train of Thought,” which recently surpassed 100,000 streams on Spotify.Performing in the all-female songwriter’s collective Song Suffragettes earlier this week, she is also featured in their latest video for Taylor Swift’s hit song “The Man.” With songwriting credits from around the globe, the Nashville-based artist is also the voice behind one of Germany’s leading beauty brands, Flaconi, who featured her song “Look In The Mirror” in their national commercial campaign. Marquard is currently hosting a weekly Instagram series, “Caro-Wine Down Wednesdays,” performing songs from The Prologue, brand new cuts and her favorite cover songs while answering questions and chatting with fans. THE PROLOGUE TRACK LISTING: 1. Never Should’ve Left (Caroline Marquard, Liz Rose, Jordan Lehning) 2. Train of Thought (Marquard, Tad Kubler) 3. Keep My Eyes On You (Marquard, Lehning, Jase Blankfort) 4. Only One (Marquard, Lehning, Blankfort) 5. Don’t Waste My Time (Marquard, Lehning, Blankfort) 6. Not A Rolling Stone (Marquard, Chris Seefried)

  • Mandy Barnett Releases “Help Me Make it Through the Night” and Talks Upcoming Album Saturday, 9 May 2020 20:00:00

NASHVILLE, TN – Mandy Barnett has been called “a song’s best friend” and she demonstrates why with the release of the Kris Kristofferson penned “Help Me Make It Through The Night” from her upcoming Melody Place debut album, A Nashville Songbook. Listen HERE. Barnett brings her emotional depth and interpretive skills to “Help Me Make It Through The Night,” which has a deeply personal message that is tender, yearning, and timeless.  “Sometimes you just sing a song and it seems to fit like a glove,” said Barnett. “With songs like this, it’s important to capture it in its entirety, recording it in one take – not splicing lines together. The performance as-a-whole is what really matters, not perfection. It’s capturing that emotion in that moment.”  The song and upcoming album, which was inspired by Barnett’s popular road show, were produced by legendary producer Fred Mollin (Jimmy Webb, Johnny Mathis, Kristofferson), president of Melody Place.  “At a time when people are feeling isolated by this pandemic, we all felt strongly that Mandy’s brilliant and intimate version of this great Kristofferson song would be something that would resonate,” said Mollin. “It doesn’t get more basic than the need to be held and to share human contact with another person.” Originally a hit by Sammi Smith, “Help Me Make It Through The Night” celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Kristofferson was inspired to write the song by an article he read in Esquire about Frank Sinatra. When asked what he believed in, Sinatra replied, “Booze, broads, or a Bible…whatever helps me make it through the night.” The song went on to win two Grammy Awards for Best Country Song and Best Country Vocal Performance, Female in 1971. A Nashville Songbook is a collection of songs that made Music City famous. The project will be released later this year and distributed by BMG. The album pays homage to iconic country and pop standards by legendary artists including Ray Price, Roy Orbison, Tammy Wynette and George Jones, Elvis Presley, Hank Williams, Anne Murray, Hank Snow, and Brenda Lee, among others; and written by the likes of Harlan Howard, Boudleaux Bryant, Chips Moman, Orbison, and Williams. Encouraged by her friend and mentor, Country Music Hall of Fame member Harold Bradley, Barnett first debuted the “Nashville Songbook” repertoire with the Nashville Symphony in 2016 and has since toured it nationally and international to rave reviews and standing ovations from fans clamoring for more. She made her New York City cabaret debut of “Nashville Songbook” in 2019 at Feinstein’s/54 Below, including a duet with Michael Feinstein.  “So many songs with a Nashville connection are worldwide country and pop standards, reimagined over-and-over again and as deserving of praise and preservation, I believe, as the Great American Songbook canon,” Barnett said. “A Nashville Songbook is a snapshot of a group of tried-and-true songs from a town that made its mark as one of the most prolific and creative centers of popular music.” Called the “Nashville Sound Chanteuse” (Music Row), Barnett has built a reputation for her commanding voice and unwavering devotion to classic country music and the pioneers who created it. • UPDATE: Moondance Jammin Country Fest Rescheduled for June 2021 Saturday, 9 May 2020 19:45:00

2020 Tickets, Camping & Lawn Chair Tags will be Valid for 2021 OR Credit Vouchers Available for any Moondance Event in 2021 or 2022 WALKER, MINNESOTA  – May 8, 2020 – A direct letter from Kathy Bieloh, the owner of Moondance Events, to fans about the 14th Annual Moondance Jammin Country Fest rescheduling for 2021 and ticket options for those who have already bought tickets to the 2020 event that was postponed by the Covid-19 pandemic: “Hi country jammers, As most of you are already aware, I have had to postpone the 14th Annual Moondance Jammin Country Fest until 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. First and foremost, I want to thank all of you for your patience while we are figuring out the logistics of this. You are the most important part of our Moondance family and are the reason I do this. After seeing your response to the survey we put out, factoring in other competing festivals and events and working with the artists on rescheduling, it’s pretty clear that we need to set the dates to June 17-19, 2021. I know that doesn’t work for everyone, but I have to do what I think is best for the majority of you to keep Moondance going into 2021. The survey results came in with 49.4% wanting the dates changed to a week earlier along with 26.5% saying it didn’t matter. That coupled with the fact that as of right now I’ll be able secure more of our lineup that weekend makes this difficult decision a little easier. Financially, I’m in the same boat as a lot of other small businesses right now. Moondance has been in an uphill battle for the past several years and has been especially difficult since my husband Bill passed away in 2010. I operate the majority of the year with two employees.  Renee, who many of you know, manages our ticket office and Charles is our grounds crew manager. I know it can appear to be a big operation when it comes to festival time, but it really isn’t most of the time. I’m not looking for pity as I know there are many others out there in just as dire straits or worse. I’m just laying out the reality that I’m facing when it comes to ticket refunds. If I have to refund tickets, there will be no more Moondance for anyone. I need Moondance to happen to financially get into the next year. So, I have decided that in order to make this as right with you as I possibly can, I will be rolling over 2020 tickets to be good in 2021 like we announced earlier. So, for all of you who will be able to make it for June 17-19 in 2021, please hold onto your tickets and camping passes. But for those of you who cannot make the new 2021 dates work, I will extend the value of what you have already purchased in the form of a Continue reading

  • Rita Wilson Releases New Single “Where’s My Country Song?” Saturday, 9 May 2020 19:30:45

Rita Wilson has shared her poignant new song, “Where’s My Country Song?” released today via Sing It Loud Records/The Orchard.  Stream/download the track here and watch the lyric video here. Co-written by Rita and Lee DeWyze (American Idol), and co-produced by Rita and Mikal Blue (Colbie Caillat, OneRepublic), the single is the latest musical offering from the multi-talented Wilson, further demonstrating her authenticity and grace as an accomplished singer/songwriter.   On Air With Ryan Seacrest gave listeners an exclusive preview of the track on May 4 when Rita joined Ryan for a chat about music and more (watch it here). “Where’s My Country Song?” features Rita’s delicate vocals and subtle arrangements, accompanied by a moving narrative and aching vulnerability. With its memorable melody and striking simplicity, the title is a nod to the genre Rita loves, but also penned as a love letter to women everywhere. She explains, “I love country music and writing songs in Nashville. I was thinking about all the women in our country, doing their jobs, and how they have always helped our country run efficiently. Women have always been pillars of strength, but now with coronavirus, millions of women comprise the essential workers who are on the front lines, and so critical to our nation.” The song also drew inspiration from Rita’s own mother, which she proudly recalls; “My mom was a homemaker. She worked hard and sacrificed, never complaining. She showed me there was honor in her work, whether it was cooking, cleaning, sewing, or caring for her children. Women understand the experience of taking pride in what they do. ‘Where’s My Country Song?’ is about women who are single parents, who work more than one job, who care for aging parents, or go to school to get a degree, all while balancing the challenges of their daily lives.  We see them everywhere, going about their lives with quiet dignity. This song is for them.” The moving lyric video is directed by Luke Eisner; the musician, actor, model, and director is well known for his role in Netflix’s original film “Tall Girl”, and half of the LA-based pop-rock band, VOILÀ. Eisner also produced and directed John Legend’s lyric video for “Conversations in the Dark.” He carries on the charitable legacy of his father who won the Silver Medal Award from the United Nations for his work against domestic violence. His father also served as director of the Milwaukee Rescue Mission, which provides a safe environment for women and their familes who are victims of domestic violence. All of Eisner’s proceeds from the video will be donated towards the Milwaukee Rescue Mission. The last several months have been notable for Wilson.  While in quarantine and recovering from COVID-19, she posted a clip of herself on Instagram rapping along perfectly to the multi-platinum 1992 hit “Hip Hop Hooray,” which she had learned for her role in the film, Boy Genius.  Intended to bring hope and a smile, the clip went viral and ultimately resulted in Wilson and Naughty By Nature teaming up for, “Hip Hop Hooray (Remix),” listen here .The single was released via Continue reading

  • Roots-Infused Psych Rock Band, Nocona To Release LOS DOS Thursday, 7 May 2020 19:45:10

ROOTS-INFUSED PSYCH ROCK BAND, NOCONA TO RELEASE LOS DOS Digital Release July 10 Venice, CA —Nocona is a band that is comfortable inhabiting the nebulous space you find between psychedelic rock and classic country music.  “We don’t neatly fit into any pop, country or ‘alt’ country category,” explains Chris Isom. “We tip our hats to a lot of traditional music and have a tremendous amount of respect for the varied and storied forms of Americana music, but we also do a lot of weird far out stuff. We take a lot of chances musically and we like it that way.” Fronted by the husband and wife team of Chris and Adrienne Isom playing lead guitar and bass respectively, Nocona takes full band form with Justin Smith on drums, Elan Glasser on harmonica, Dan Wistrom on steel guitar, and Xander Hitzig on fiddle.  They also recruited notable Los Angeles keyboardist, Carl Byron to play on Los Dos. All songs were written by Chris Isom with the exception of “Post Apocalyptic Blues” which was co-written with Jay Braun. Isom sings all leads with vocal backing by Adrienne Isom and Justin Smith. “We took more chances on this record,” said Isom. “Adrienne and Jay had a lot of input in terms of dynamics, tempo and vibe.  Because we recorded in our garage, we weren’t on the clock as we were with our other records during the recording process, and we could record more takes and choose from the ones we liked or retake after listening more.  I think that provides a powerful dimension to the overall vibe of the record which diverges from some of our other recordings.” Los Dos begins with the track “Stabby Mike” a surreal ode to a fictional character who may or may not resemble figures in real life.  “I got this character in my head of someone who just walks around with a switchblade in his back pocket and stabs people for fun…ya know? Stabby Mike…kind of like a “Gangs of New  York” type character.” Chris says.  “There are a few people who don’t seem to be so far off from this kind of caricature to me these days, unfortunately.” Sonically, the song explores some tried and true rock n’ roll psychedelic Americana punk territory, but has a soaring unexpected chorus and interesting instrumentation featuring Wistrom’s masterful pedal steel and Glasser’s harmonica work. “Chasing Your Shadow” is a more upbeat track with a bluegrass or country feel, while “Free Throw” evokes a more laid-back 70’s sun-soaked rock n’ roll vibe.  “Unseen Hand” is perhaps one of the record’s most ambitious songs instrumentally, incorporating aspects of heavy blues verging on psychedelia.  The long instrumental middle of the song has a series of very unexpected twists and turns.  “Never Come Back” features some of the most incredible fiddle work from Hitzig. “It’s just a real straight forward song with a lot of bluegrass roots, but some dark undercurrents.  It was pretty much made for the fiddle and Xander has one of Continue reading
